Annapurna Circuit _Day 12

Tatopani to Sikha

After a late night of dancing, we left around 9am for Sikha. I called it the Rupee stairmaster as we climbed and climbed and climbed that morning, mostly on actually steps which can be more challenging than a dirt trail.  We also found lots of rupees on the ground; I imagine from the students that walk the paths on their way to and from school. Our guide, Shankar, also taught us a fun trick that involves placing a rupee on someone’s forehead. We had some good laughs as he tried it out on various people in the group,

We walked through many cute villages and for last part of the walk, we heard music in the distance. It ended up that the town was celebrating a section of new stairs being completed in Sikha.  Some of our group met a teacher and went to a local school, where they found out more about the celebration. A few of us walked down to the celebration later in the day and danced with the locals. Such fun!
